And in a rare show of frivolity...

Well, two things, really:

1) I'm headed on a business trip next week to San Diego, for National Pastors Convention. Was there last year, but a) I'll be trying to spend more time getting into conversations to see what needs church leaders are feeling right now (while hoping they're not simply "felt needs" ); b) this time Marion'll be with me, so it'll actually be more of a vacation. This'll be her first time in California, seeing the Pacific, etc., and we figure we'll hit the San Diego Zoo while we're there, too (anyone else remember watching Zoorama on early Saturday mornings as a kid?) We could use the break. Again, you've been following the blog, right?

2) In preparation for the impending Tension Envelopes reunion gig (4/4/9 -- mark yr calendars, boys and girls), I actually ended up buying myself a rather nice Ibanez bass, at one of Loveland's many fine pawn shops.  I was gonna go cheap, but Marion actually encouraged me to buy the one that was calling out to me. Cost as much used as my first Ibanez did brand-new nearly 30 years ago.  The good news, I still kind of "got it." Now I just need to remember it.

Sometime after I get back: The new Robyn Hitchcock album, and likely Willie Nile's Beautiful Wreck of the World from 1999, which I've been digging on quite a bit. And maybe even "Lighten Up" Morrissey? Who knows? As always, we'll see when we there.

Oh, there will be. You haven't been following tim's entries, I guess. Sounds like he may actually have joined the 21st century on this one. :)

It's true. A whole claque of them. And here's the part that I love burning tim's butt with: The vast majority of them come from the Christian-alternative set. :P

(Seriously, and seriously, though: There's a bunch of us who hang out on a certain message board, who largely met on a different set of message boards, where tim first encountered them & vice versa... and thus a most unlikely fan base was born. :))

Well I'm the only fan I know of in Idaho, but I'll proudly be a TE fan none-the-less.

And, no, I haven't been following Tim's entries. I'll have to go catch up.

Yo,

How goes the bass wrangling?
A thought: "No Man's Uniform"
I was playing this last night. Kind
of a weird song but I really like
the chord changes. And it's fun to play. On the "maybe" list perhaps?

Merchandising: How 'bout we set
up a fish market outside the theatre? People can buy their very
own Tension Envelope flounder, they
can even name it Henry if they want. Who they hit with it will be entirely up to them. Pike, clams,
and maneaters could be sold as well,
for the discriminating fan. Maybe "Uncle Slow" T-shirts?
The possibilities are endless.

"Got anything in there for yr Uncle Slow? Fire up that pup, fifre up that pup.... " :D George Arva, we hardly knew ye. Then again, who could blame us? :D

I'm open to anything. Heck, I was just thinking on the drive home (just got back from an overnight trip to Indianapolis, which was much nicer than I thought it would be -- more like a hickier Denver than Detroit Jr. anyway...) that if tim's writing again, and it seems he is, maybe we oughta work up a couple of his new ones.

Anyway, the motel's booked and the bass amp is plugged in. And how the heck did we EVER play "People Who Died" at the speed we did?

Oh yeah -- it WAS the speed....

Hey guys, tim here. Sorry I've etc. Contrary to popular Internet rumor I HAVE NOT JOINED A CHRISTIAN MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE!!!! I merely considered asking them to help distribute whatever food we collect at the T.E. reunion, but have since availed myself of secular assistance.

Found an old guy w/a truck who ISN'T a church.

In any event, it's gonna rip in either a good or very bad way, and really either's fine w/me, Ii just want to see my friends. And while I do indeed have some new tunes I'm screaming about Jesus in half of them and the government in the other, but who knows?

I never said you JOINED them. I just was piqued by the idea that you were joining forces for said food drive.

"And while I do indeed have some new tunes I'm screaming about Jesus in half of them and the government in the other, but who knows? "

So just like old times? :P

tim here. I keep forgetting to log in so I gotta pass ith IP test again. Yeah, just like old times although (and I never thought I'd ever say this) I am going to TRY (key word, here) TRY to avoid swearing or bashing of any kind, religious or political, from the stage.

But ya know what they say about the best laid schemes of mousy men.

That's cool. Although we MIGHT need to make an exception for "Answer for Your Own Good".... :)

Yeah, "Answer for your own
forkin' good" just won't cut it.

What's this about a food drive?

AND-Sparks lp finally arrived.

Isn't it remarkable? I'm trying hard to convert others on said message board tim's inhabited in the past, and am finally making some slight headway, despite Russell's helium voice.

And on said board, we'd say, "Answer for your own faithin' good." Which actually kind of makes sense, but would probably confuse people more than anything. :)

Tim again....

Yeah, 'Answer's the one I'm worried about, too. I of course, want to be true to myself and will probably drop the fbomb, but part of me doesn't want to give the locals any excuse to not let me do this again.

Our little boy is growin' up and I gotta tell ya, life was a lot more fun when I was an irresponsible screw up!
