I'm Going to Tim's Place, Y'All!

It took almost a full generation -- and nearly three years after getting out here -- but it's finally happening. I've finally found enough vacation time that I can use a couple days of it taking the three-hour trip back and forth to scenic Fowler, Colorado -- home of songwriter extraordinaire, curmudgeon, and crisis-monger Tim Byrnes.

(OK, so I question said scenicness, and from the descriptions in punkrockblues I'm thinking Tim questions it even more, but as this trip coincides with my now-annual Early Spring Drive Into the Colorado Wastelands it oughta work either way. Actually, having now peaked my own curiosity, it don't look all that bad.

And by the sounds of it, it may also serve as a warm-up for next year, as fellow Tension Envelopes axis member Rick Neblung is apparently planning a trip out here this time next year. We're gettin' the band back together, duuuuuudes! Woo-hoo!

OK, not really, but it oughta be a good time. Ask anyone who hangs with an old war buddy.)

Anyway, I'll be arriving there midday Thursday and leaving midday Friday. (Arguably, I add this piece of information more for tim's repeated edification. :P) And I'll have tuneage in tow. But I'll be more selective this time, tim, promise. :)

I half-don't know what to expect. The other half assumes it'll be a lot like those days hanging at tim's room in Suffern, New York, where everything and its mother was discussed and/or played. Only with a lot less clutter (see also this). And, of course, a LOT less liquids and/or chemicals. (We're gonna do this sober????  Danged STRAIGHT we are. Pun unintentional but apropos.)

It'll be fun. Maybe we'll even post from there. Then again, that could get really ugly. So maybe not. :P

In what little other news there is from last time:

1) The perfect storm is almost passed -- four lessons for Quarter 3 are all that remain, although the debate over said lessons is heating up. So, it ain't over til' it's over. But considering the curricular death march of last three months, this is still WAY farther along. I oughta have it resolved before leaving Wednesday.

2) Nothing much to report in the way of new tuneage. A few new kinda interesting things, but nothing to get overly excited about. Although I just spoke with Karen Cleaves (i.e., wife of Slaid Cleaves), and his new album's looking at a fall release, which warms my heart to no end.

So that where we're at. Maybe there'll be a lot more to talk about next week. Then again, maybe not. :P

Oh yes, and as it's Opening Day I would be remiss in not adding: GO ROX!!!
